To support high school students choosing to pursue STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) post-secondary education programs, MindFuel created scholarships to honour the amazing work of three passionate, long-time members of the MindFuel organization.

“Through these scholarships, we pass the educational torch to the next generation of innovators,” says Cassy Weber, MindFuel CEO. “These future leaders will play an important role in strengthening and diversifying Alberta’s economy.”

Three annual scholarships were created in 2014, the Jim Gray ($5,000), Anne Tingle ($2,500) and Arlene Ponting ($2,500) awards. In 2016, MindFuel partnered with the ASTech foundation to launch a new $2,500 award. The MindFuel scholarship program continues annually thanks to the generous support of the community through fundraising efforts. Tuition costs are on the rise in Alberta and coupled with an economic downturn, according to Student Aid Alberta, we will see a 10% increase in student loan applications in 2016/2017. MindFuel’s scholarship program will have a positive impact on recipient students in the short and long term.
