Calling all Canadian teen gamers, tech nerds, puzzle whizzes and everyone in between! Now is your chance to learn coding, build your own app with a chance to win amazing prizes with MindFuel’s Crack the Code Challenge.

Canadian youth from 6 to 18 years (excluding Quebec residents) are eligible to compete in Crack the Code Challenge, which will be hosted online through MindFuel’s signature coding platform, Codingville. The platform contains three journeys with 21 hours each of coding activities in a game format, giving coders the chance to build their own application or game at the conclusion of each journey.

Think you have what it takes to develop an app or design a game? Now’s the chance to show off your tech skills in the Crack the Code Challenge and win amazing prizes, including a Chromebook and gift cards to Visions Electronics!

The challenge will consist of three separate rounds:

  • Round One: January 15 to February 1
  • Round Two: February 8 to March 1
  • Round Three: March 5 to March 26

To compete, simply register for free on Codingville and opt into the challenge in advance of the round you’d like to participate in.

Participants will compete in three national age groups – six to nine years, ten to 13 years, and 14 to 18 years – and points will be tracked on national leaderboards on Codingville/crack-the-code. Earn points in the competition by completing Codingville journeys, sharing your referral code and “liking” participant projects, and by developing and submitting your own app or game based on the round theme!

A panel of judges will use a rubric to score applications/games submitted, combining that score with the participant’s leaderboard score to determine the winners of each round. There will be prizes for first, second and third place in each age group, equaling 27 winners in total!
